From Classroom to Canopy — MMU’s Forest Feed and Farm Concept
In collaboration with international university partners, Mountains of the Moon University developed the Forest Feed and Farm concept, an agroecology model designed to curb the environmental degradation driving climate change. In a May 2025 presentation to visiting international students, the university’s leadership explained how the innovation allows farmers to coexist with forests, growing food without clearing trees, while the forest itself continues sequestering carbon.
The concept mirrors the founding logic of Triple F’s own Food, Feed, Forest model, farming that works with a landscape’s existing biodiversity rather than against it. The overlap is not a coincidence. It reflects a shared conviction, carried by Kabaseke through both his university role and his work at Triple F, that Uganda’s forests and its food systems do not have to compete for the same land.
