Our centre offers visitors an opportunity to learn, participate, and appreciate one of Uganda's most treasured cultural heritages, alongside the agroecology work of the wider Triple F Centre.

The Empaako tradition

A name that carries respect, unity, and identity

UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage

Discover the unique Empaako naming tradition, a cherished cultural practice recognized by UNESCO. Every visitor can learn the meaning of Empaako names, their importance in promoting respect, unity, and identity, and even receive a symbolic Empaako name as part of the cultural experience.

The tradition is a hallmark of the Batooro, Banyoro, Batuku, Batagwenda, and Banyabindi communities.

Indigenous natural medicine

Alongside Empaako, knowledgeable guides introduce visitors to the wisdom of traditional herbal medicine, medicinal plants, their traditional uses, and the importance of conserving indigenous biodiversity and cultural knowledge passed down through generations.
